KYW radio will interview Holy Family University professor and artist Pamela Flynn on Friday, January 11, 2013, regarding a mixed-media exhibit about gun violence called Considering Harm/Philadelphia. The show will be on display at A Seed on Diamond Gallery, located at 124 Diamond Street in Philadelphia, from January 12 through January 30.
Flynn’s interview will be aired all day on Saturday, January 12, at 1060 (AM).
This timely collection is body of work that has 29 mixed-media pieces about gun violence, with each work accompanied by text that referred to an incident of gun violence in Philadelphia. It previously showed at the Phoenix Gallery in NYC in the late spring of 2012 with accompanying text about New York. The exhibit will travel to other U.S. cities in an effort to bring awareness of the harm delivered to people and communities through gun violence.
“The culture of violence and the need to address the issue of gun control in America motivated me to do the Considering Harm project,” said Flynn. “My art making has always been my voice. My art is driven by living the day to day.”
The collection has a corresponding blog, which can be accessed at consideringharm.com. Flynn and CeaseFirePa worked together to make this Philadelphia exhibit happen, and a portion of the proceeds of artwork sales will go to the CeaseFirePa Education Fund just as Flynn supported the New Yorkers Against Gun Violence Education Fund for the New York exhibit.
